nickel plated single student lamp

Nickel Plated Single Student Lamp

A nickel plated single student lamp with the unusual single forked shade holder. The shade holder clamps on to the top of the shade and adjusts up or down by loosening the set screw on the center post. This lamp was designed by Adolph Kleeman in Germany, manufactured by the St Germaine lamp company and imported to the United States by the Heinrich company of New York City.  It is unmarked except for the word "Imperial" on the burner holder tube. Another example is illustrated in Richard Miller's book "Student Lamps of the Victorian Era", figure 66 of plate #26. The lamp has all of its parts in original oil configuration, including the round wick. It has never been drilled or altered for electricity. As did the better lamps, it has a weighted base to prevent tipping. It has a period cased green shade with a few flea bites at the upper edge, only one of which is really visible. There are three dents in the lid of the font, the largest of which is 1/2 " across. Additional photos are attached by the information link below.
